Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another video on my channel, this one is a Your Lie in April Medley that I've planned halfway through April lol.
As I had a rly tight schedule, my first thoughts were: how am I supposed to complete this within half a month? But with the support of my fellow friends, they gave me the courage to do so and guided me throughout the arrangement, I cannot thank them enough.
Literally, the craziest thing to ever pulling out a 17-page arrangement, then to practice, record and edit the video as well in around 14 days is absolutely insane and I probably would not attempt something crazy like this ever again.
- About the arrangement [Arranging: 2 weeks, Practicing (Anime Part: 5 hours, Classical Part: 1 day)]
Hikaru Nara (Animenz ver.)
Animenz’s Hikaru Nara was the first ever anipiano arrangement I’ve tried to play on the piano! This was the piece that flared my interest into playing anime piano as a hobby and that is why I gotta include it in the medley. The soft opening is super different that any other arrangement that I have heard of. It is so tender and attempts to drag you further into listening to the song. And plus, my intention was to make this an emotional medley, so his slow and soft opening was definitely the choice to go for.
Orange (Theishter + Improv. ver.)
Theishter’s Orange is one of my fav arrangements from him. Well obviously apart from the extra reverb, his musical approach to the song and the way he arranged it really fit my playing style. Although I did change most of the left hand arpeggios to fit my own playing, it is still nonetheless an incredible and emotional cover. From 2:49 - 2:59, the pause, the silence in between, hitting all the high octave notes, man it hits different. That’s where normally everyone bulges their tears near their eyes, because that’s how emotional this song is and is also one of my fav parts of the song.
Nanairo Symphony (HalcyonMusic + Improv. ver)
Then it’s Nanairo Symphony. I am lost of words when it comes to describing how emotional this song actually is. It still sometimes haunts me on how many tears will drop from my eyes just listening to the opening and having the visuals in the background. 5:57 - 5:59 with that gliss buildup. It works pretty well in my opinion because it gives people that feeling of the emotions building up, and adds color for the chorus.
Watashi no Uso (Torby Brand + Improv. ver.)
Watashi no Uso is another song that is slow, relatively easy to play, but the feels that it gives you is different, especially on the E D C# D segment, it always gets me :( The song is slow enough and emotional enough to make a grown man cry.
Kirameki (Theishter + Improv ver.)
Again, Theishter is perfect when it comes to these emotional songs, he plays it with a style that makes an emotional song EVEN MORE emotional. The repeated notes on the left hand serves as a great way to express the bass in like a “wave form”, which allows more flexibility for the right hand to express its melody.
Again (Theishter + Improv. ver.)
My Truth ~ Rondo Capriccioso (Navarone Boo ver.)
Classical Pieces
There would not be Your Lie in April if there is no classical. Therefore, to suit my 1-day practicing schedule, I’ve made the songs a lot simpler!
- Video Editing (31 hours)
It was a pain to align everything, to add Kaori’s letter with all the visuals and everything. It took around 30 hours as I was trying to make sure every part was perfect. For the visuals, I tried to line up the most emotional bits in the anime into the video. And towards the end, I tried to line up the part where Kousei does the fast scales at the end with my video as well.
