About the arrangement: (Duration: 3 weeks)
I tried to put together as fulfilling an arrangement as I can possibly put together, while making it playable for me lol. Even though I have yet to watch AOT, the songs are very very amusing, and it always drags my attention, no matter the OP, ED or OSTs.
Description from my Youtube:
Guren no Yumiya (Animenz + Improvised)
This arrangement was a mix of his performance he uploaded back in 2013, his most recent upload of the full ver. In 2020 and in this first ever livestream. For example, from 0:05-1:02 was an adaptation to his 2020 version and I just switched the left hand to some jumps and extra tenth (bass repeated) notes, meanwhile 1:02-1:23 was adapted from his 2013 version. I simply switched some of the notes to make it easier for me to play and reach. 1:23-2:14 goes back into his 2020 version + His livestream version, with Animenz playing a new style for the chorus left hand. 2:14-2:21 is an adaptation for his livestream version, in which he creates this bridge part to transition over to Jiyuu no Tsubasa going from arpgeggios of G to Ab to Gb. Those were the 3 notes I could see him playing from the livestream so I improvised to make it sound similar.
Jiyuu no Tsubasa (Animenz + Improvised)
This arrangement was a mix of his piano duet version with Theishter in 2013 as well as his livestream. The melody from 2:21-3:16 was adapted from his livestream version, while the left hand has his piano duet version adapted as well. 3:16-3:44 was an improvised part, which from the left hand, I wanted to create a “war” theme sound, hence the up-rolling arpeggios. You can also hear the atmosphere of “war” while playing the arpeggios in a fast manner, which is one of my fav parts. 3:44-4:10 goes back to his livestream version, in which I like the dynamic change especially in 3:55-4:00. The sudden silence gives off a sudden pause in this “war” and creates suspense, before 4:00-4:10 in which the dynamics go back up and the tension of “war” continues.
Shinzou wo Sasageyo (Animenz + Improvised)
I tried to keep the tempo and dynamics he played while adding in improvised parts for the left and right hand, but more or less, there isn’t much to talk about for Sasageyo, I just really enjoyed how Animenz played it in his livestream, the bass from 4:30-4:40 is one of my favorite parts as well. 5:17-5:27 is the soft part which Animenz played during his livestream and I realized it was the best adaptation to prepare for the loud build-up for the chorus from 5:27-5:41. The dynamic change is absolutely flawless and I’m lost of words to describe how great his small segment is. Animenz did a truly marvellous job in expressing this piece with his style :3
Transition from Sasageyo to Boku no Sensou: Sayuri Chan
Thank you so much Sayuri for giving me this transition idea! I was stuck coming up with a smooth and effective transition. Luckily, with the help of a dear friend, he gave me this transition which changed the key from F# Major to E Major in the blink of an eye. Thank you so much!!
Boku no Sensou (My War) (Fonzi M + Improvised)
This arrangement is a mix of Fonzi’s Boku no Sensou and improvised parts. 5:56-6:10 was just an improvised part. To add this to the war theme, after playing the C# octave, I added in four quick notes (G# C# E G#) to increase the dynamic of the piece and make it sound more “war-like”. However, you can spot that the entire segment of this piece is using a very basic left hand, going repeated notes after repeated notes. The pattern stays the same because I wanted to just kinda relax after playing the first 3 songs, as it was quite tiring. 6:36-6:37 this very short quick run adds so much more tempo and pace for the song, and I thought when Fonzi played it, it was spectacular. 6:37 onwards is basically an adaptation from Fonzi’s version, I just changed the left hand once again.
